Cutting Up in the Kitchen
January 3rd, 2008Finally I am the proud owner of a professional chef’s knife. My mom sent me some money for Xmas and I did some searching for a top quality knife as that is arguably the most important tool in the kitchen, especially if you do a lot of slicing and chopping and even more important in a commercial kitchen.
We have some Wusthofs in the kitchen at Mud Street Cafe and I hated them. I have used Henckels before too and didn’t care for them. I hate the hard, black plastic handles they both feature.
Okay, so I ignored two of the biggest names in professional cutlery, what did I choose? Gunter Wilhelm Cutlery. I bought their 8″ Chef’s Knife for an amazing $45.00! It normally sells for $130.00.
I could not be happier. Not only is this knife amazingly well balanced but it’s heavier than most, making for easier cutting with less “muscle” from the user. In addition to it’s superior cutting abilities it is a beautiful piece of art. None of those ugly black plastic handles but wood! Sealed to be waterproof and quite comfortable in the hand.
If you do any kitchen work at all do yourself a favor and consider a knife from Gunter Wilhelm. I know I will be buying more from them to round out my collection of kitchen tools.
Think About What You Are Saying
October 11th, 2007I saw a marquee today that had the message:
“Harry Potter or the Bible, which do you want feeding your child’s mind?”
Uhhhh, well let’s see… they both have magic as a major theme and they both teach that good always triumph over evil.
Didn’t really think that one through did ya?
To top it off it wasn’t at a church, it was at storage rental place.
Another Redesign
August 22nd, 2007I just launched a redesign of the award-winning Eureka Springs, Arkansas restaurant, Mud Street Cafe. I am quite proud of this one.
